My Story — Why This Exists
Making Invisible Symptoms Visible was born from a frustrating, undeniable reality: traditional symptom tracking is deeply broken, physically exhausting, and rigged against the people who need it most.
In March 2020, my husband caught COVID. He never got better. He has been bedridden ever since.
It started with what we thought was Long Haul COVID — narcolepsy, brain fog, shortness of breath, dizziness, and more. By the end of April 2021, he'd lost his job. He couldn't stay awake reliably enough to work — narcolepsy alone made that impossible. He eventually gave up his driver's license, for his own safety and everyone else's.
For three years, we fought for SSDI. We were denied — until May 2024, when a heart attack put him in the hospital and doctors diagnosed heart failure. Only then, with an ejection fraction below the threshold and the heart wall measurements to match, did he finally meet the Blue Book guidelines. Then we waited five more months for payments to begin — with no retroactive pay for the years we'd already lost.
My daughter's story is different but just as painful. She has several severe chronic conditions, diagnosed by multiple doctors. But years ago, one specialist looked at her and said there was no cure, it would only progress, and there was nothing to be done — she'd just have to live with it. Those words made her stop seeking treatment for years. To this day she tells me: why go to a doctor? They can't do anything for me. There isn't any cure.
I built these products for people like them — people who suffer silently, every single day. People who struggle to understand their own daily limitations, let alone explain them to someone else. People who can't get proper treatment or diagnoses because they can't make their doctors truly understand what they deal with on a consistent basis — and how their symptoms create real limitations.
No one should have to prove their suffering with a perfect memory and a medical degree. This system does the proving for you.
